Our Visit to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare
On Friday, February 28, 2025, I joined my colleagues, Abdullahi Yakasai (SSAP NW) and Moremi Ojudu (SSA South West), at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for a crucial meeting.
We had a productive discussion with the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Ali Pate CON, focusing on collaborative efforts to improve primary healthcare services across the 774 local governments in Nigeria. Our goal is to tackle communal diseases like malaria, TB, hepatitis, infant mortality, and maternal deaths.
As part of this partnership, we’ve agreed to participate in the Ministry’s quarterly meetings with the Commissioners of Health from the 36 states. This will enable us to contribute to the Sector Wide Approach (SAP) of the Ministry in providing primary healthcare services.
The Minister also shared the Ministry’s roadmap towards achieving self-sustainability, particularly in light of the USAID withdrawal.
We’re committed to supporting the Ministry in achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
I’m excited about the prospects of this partnership and its potential impact on the lives of Nigerians.
We’ll continue to work tirelessly to ensure that primary healthcare services are accessible and effective across the country.
Barr. Mrs. Chioma Nweze
Senior Special Assistant to the President on community engagement, Southeast.
