Chioma Nweze Urges Nigerians, Especially South Easterners, to Take Continuous Voter Registration Seriously

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East), Chief (Barr.) Chioma Nweze, has called on Nigerians—particularly the good people of the South East region, the youth, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)—to take the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise seriously.

She emphasized that voter registration is not only a civic responsibility but also a powerful instrument for sustaining democracy and ensuring that the voices of Nigerians are heard in shaping the nation’s governance.

Barr. Nweze noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the nationwide voter registration exercise, which runs from 18th August 2025 to 30th August 2026.

She further explained that registration can be done in two phases:

Online Pre-registration: Beginning 18th August 2025 via cvr.inecnigeria.org

Physical Registration: Starting 25th August 2025 at all INEC LGA and State offices nationwide, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, weekdays only.

In her remarks, Barr. Nweze urged young Nigerians to seize this opportunity, describing the CVR as the foundation of political power.

“The strength of democracy lies in the active participation of the people. Registering to vote is the first step towards choosing leaders who will shape our collective future,” she stated.

She also appealed to APC members and loyal supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead by example by mobilizing friends, family, and communities to fully participate in the exercise.

According to her, the ruling party must demonstrate its commitment to inclusivity, grassroots mobilization, and citizen empowerment through active political engagement.

“No eligible Nigerian in the South East should be left behind in this crucial exercise. I charge everyone to spread the message, register, and prepare to vote, thereby safeguarding the democratic ideals for which countless Nigerians have sacrificed,” she added.
